Background
The development of the digital skills and literacies of its members belongs to the strategic goals of the University of Basel. As part of this effort, the Project Digital Literacies was launched at the University of Basel in 2019 with funds from the federal project “Strengthening Digital Skills in Teaching”, initiated by swissuniversities. After the end of the project in 2025, the promotion of digital literacy became a permanent mission of the team Educational Technologies within the Vice-President’s Office for Education.
The team’s main activities in this thematic area are:
- maintaining and developing the Framework Digital Literacies of the University of Basel
- conceiving and realizing information and teaching materials
- conceiving and implementing courses and training opportunities for students and teaching staff
- offering advice and support for projects and measures from the administration and from the University’s faculties, when they are relevant for the development of digital skills and literacy.
Due to current trends, a special attention is paid in all these activities to the promotion of AI literacy.
